Dear RMHS Students & Families,

I can't believe we are headed into October this coming week. A heartfelt thank you to the students and families for making the first month back to school a successful one on so many levels. It was great to see so many families over the past weeks between the Open House, Post-Secondary Planning Night, and athletic events. We look forward to more sporting events, performances, and community events to come.

This coming Friday (October, 2nd) marks the mid-term for Q1. Please check Aspen for your child's progress, and contact teachers directly if you have any concerns or questions about your child's progress to date.

Ms. Crocker's 6th-grade science class is researching and creating visuals to show the formation of the universe

Mr. Sabo's PLTW Capstone class partners with the Cape Ann Radio Club to launch a balloon that will fly around the world.

To simplify the communication process for families, we have streamlined all communications to run through the RMHS Main Office. Please use the main number for routine inquiries: 978-546-1234. For a more detailed chart of counselors, and other support personnel, please use the chart below to help navigate our current team of people and systems available to support you and your child throughout their academic journey.

Why Attendance Matters

Being in school and on time is extremely important to your child's success. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they stay engaged in their learning, build strong relationships, and develop solid study habits. We appreciate your partnership with this and encourage frequent communication if there are obstacles that exist throughout the year.

The cafeteria and library are open at 7:00 am and free breakfast is available for all students. The main hallways and classrooms open at 7:25 am.

Rockport DECA News

The Rockport High School DECA chapter is trying to bring back the DECA the Halls Holiday Inn and Home Tour this December. The chapter ran this successfully from 2012-2019. To make this happen we need at least 6 homes for the tour. If you or someone you know who might be interested, contact advisor, Scott Larsen, at slarsen@rpk12.org. I can provide you with more information.

Counseling Connections

Seniors, Class of 2027:

The Post-Secondary Planning Night for students and families held on September 23rd was a great success!!! If you were unable to attend, please pick up your individualized senior planning folder from Guidance.
Guidance will be offering Common App/Naviance sessions during PLC and WIN/Flex blocks. Please check your email and calendar for an invite from Guidance.
College admission representatives have started hosting sessions in Guidance for juniors and seniors. The students have been engaged and asking great questions. Please get permission from your teachers before attending and sign up in Naviance to secure your participation. Coming soon: Mass College of Pharmacy, Lesley University, University of Maine, WPI, Brown University, Salve Regina University, Simmons University, and Merrimack College.

Juniors & Sophomores, Classes of 2028 & 2029:

LAST CALL!!! PSAT registration forms must be turned into Guidance no later than October 1st to secure your spot. The PSAT/NMSQT for Juniors and Sophomores will be offered this year during the school day on October 21st. You will find the registration form and payment information in your first-day packets, or stop by Guidance for another form. Also, if you need financial assistance, please come to Guidance as the fee is $20.

ALL Students:

College & Career Fair (co- sponsored by Rockport Public Schools): All high school students and families are encouraged to participate on Wednesday, September 30th, from 6-7:30 pm at Ipswich High School, Lower Gymnasium, 134 High Street, Ipswich. This event is FREE to students and families & open to ALL!
Community Service is a graduation requirement. Check your respective Class Board or Aspen account to see earned community service hours. Please check the school website or bulletin board outside of Guidance for opportunities.
